im.alive!
okay, so the updates havent been as spectacular lately...sorry....I HAVE been taking pictures tho, let me put some up here and tell you about the adventures im having...im still in Peru...let me update you...first off...I have a new friend. for about the last week, my travel buddy has been Thomas. this is T in the picture below. hes a true travel bug from Switzerland. he has a house in Arequipa Peru, and was just his way down to it. we met in Chiclayo. I.LOVE.CHICLAYO. we ended up spending almost 5 days there. Juice markets, festivals, good food, happy people, there was nothing NOT to love about that tiny town. my favorite thing to do was go into the dirty meat and fruit market and get an al muerzo which is just rice and beans dished up on a plastic plate and set in front of you to eat for a dollar, sometimes less...its a perfect little (not so little) meal. then you wander down the market a little and go to a lady and say hmmm....I want an orange juice, so she grabs about 6 oranges and sqeezes them into a glass, you drink the juice till its gone (there is usually A LOT more than a glass...) then you move on and check out the other cool things people are shoving into your face. T and I did this on a regular basis. the Jugos (juices) are unreal...umm maybe because they are real?? anyways... thats Thomas. it was really nice to have someone to help me work on my spanish, and have to protect me so I could take pictures! haha I really consider him a great friend from now on, maybe we will meet later in our travels, he took a night bus to Lima a couple days before me to head to Arequipa.
on sunday I got to go to church in Chiclayo...I brought T with me. it was really great. small small ward but everyone was SO sweet. they invited us back the next day for an all day dance festival. come Monday I was .VERY.SICK. again...I have been sick almost he whole trip in one way or another...booo, but I went anyways, here are some pictures from the festival! little kids, (of course!)

.DANCERS. the girls and boys got dressed up BEAUTIFULLY and did traditional Peruvian dances with hads and doves that they thre in the air..it was a totally cultural experience!
.dance.
.just.dance. the youth here was great.

the hats kept on blowing away, so that random kid in jeans was doing hat control making sure they didnt fly into traffic....
Tuesday Morning I got on a bus boung for .TRUJULLO. it was only about a 4 hour ride...through the desert...I got to snap these photos from my window

and then we arrived in Trujullo! it is a nice little city....very bright and colorfull. here is a photo of the Peru flag, and the Privincial flag as well!
this is the .plaza.de.armas. I just found out that EVERY city has one. its the main plaza, and usually the center for town, all the big important things happen here. I loved just sitting in this sqaure. I actually had a lady come up to me while I was sitting and ask me if I could help her with her english, because she had a big interview with a cruise ship and she had to practice her english, so I just sat and did a fake interview with her for a couple hours...then she helped me with my spanish. good trade!
the morning after I got to Trujullo, I made the treck on a collctivo ( its this...VAN...and they drive around with the door open and shout where they are going...if you want to go there, you hop on, pay your 50 cents...and pray nobody falls out on the way) but let me tell you it was worth it...

this is what I ate for lunch...its the ocean...so I had mashed potatoes with crab meat in the middle...it was pretty good, but I remembered I was in South america when I realized I was crunching on shells and it was covered in mayo...but hey...you only live once right?? haha at least it looks good
A man preparing his fishing boat early in the morning to surf out and then paddle back with the waves...and his catch!
.this.is.huanchaco. filled to the brim with fisherman, hippies and surfers...but I got there early...and got to walk down the beach, almost alone...it was a once in a lifetime experience.

this picture is a lot better when its blown up, there is a little couple holding eachother on the beach watching the tide early in the morning. its precious!
so that was Huanchaco...I spent most of the day there getting terribly sun burnt sitting on the dock... then I bought an AWESOME handmade blanket from a guy on the beach, and hopped in a collectivo...back to Trujullo, I had to catch the night bus to Lima that night at 10pm---BUT
